Now history has shown us time and time again how pride has been the downfall of many.  Whether it be asking for help, whether it be fear of mockery driving us away from our true actions, whether it be overlooking some small detail because we determine we are too great for it to matter, pride kills.  Pride causes us to say things we didn’t want to or do things we know we shouldn’t.  Pride unfortunately is a leech, it feeds on ambition and the weaknesses of man, it makes promises that seem all to unreal because they are and in exchange for glory, recognition, or fame we strike that deal and allow Pride to lead.  Pride perverts feelings, it twists thoughts and corrupts them for self gain and self preservation.  That is why I must implore everyone to set aside their pride once in a while.  Ever been to the casino at the top of your game and you know you should stop as you’ve doubled your money but play on as the crowd roots for you?  Ever ruined a relationship because of things left unsaid, or things said to show off? Thank Pride for gifting you with exes that you knew it was your fault.  Pride will promise you wealth, but cause you to gamble it all away on whim.  Pride will entrance you with love, but then make you hurt those you love,  That’s why it does well to place it aside, ignore superficial titles, the words of others, and pursue solely that which you want.  It was once said by St. Augustine that, “Pride changed angels into devils; it is humility that makes men as angels.”  Think of your teen years, perhaps there was some issues that could’ve been avoided if you weren’t trying to fit in or show off.  Perhaps things were said that you didn’t mean or couldn’t take back, or you pushed the envelope too far to be noticed because you wanted to be noticed.  Pride is a strong sin, sometimes unnoticable and most times leaving long term damage so proceed with caution.
